The symposium "Reimagining the City-University Connection," co-created by Chris Winship and Rob Sampson and jointly sponsored by the City of Boston, Harvard's Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston, and Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study (RIAS) was extremely sucessful! Held on October 21, the conference featured a broad range of leading experts who came together to consider collaborative efforts between cities and universities. Some topics higlighted in 4 panel discussions over the course of the day included: preventing and responding to violence; governance through new technologies; improving urban education; and the challenges of implementation. The full conference agenda reflects the diverse range of scholarship presented during the day, and as echoed in commentary in the Harvard Gazette and Harvard Magazine [1] [2] following the event, these productive discussions have long been needed.
